What kind of scenery are you creating?
Last night I watched a brief video by Julien Smith, co-author of Trust Agents, a new book set to be released on August 24.
In the video on Trust Agents Facebook page, Julien discussed reliability as a key component of building trust online. But in my opinion, he took the idea one step further by referring to reliable, consistent presence as becoming “part of the scenery.”
This brings me to what I love about the idea: the kind of scenery people create with content.
What kind of content are we creating on a consistent, reliable basis? Are we enhancing the online scenery or detracting from it? Is it a crummy billboard pushing half off crap? Or is it a gorgeous sunrise people have to photograph and share? Is it a Hollywood style setting with nothing behind it other than a few nails and two by fours? Or is it a community with substance, interactivity, and reciprocity?
What do you think? What kind of scenery are you creating?
