Somewhere in Tallahassee, there’s a Nurse in a Pool
And she’s inviting other nurses to join her. Her arms outstretched. Her face smiling, inviting. The headline: Nurses… Join me in the pool.
What?
If I were a nurse, I wouldn’t want to go swimming with other nurses — especially in uniform and stethoscope. The potential for chafing is much too high.
Yes, I understand — it’s a metaphor. Yes, I understand — it’s meant to be a clever, memorable, visual pun, but the advertisement comes across as much too playful when its intent is to rally nurses together for the purpose of tackling issues they face on a daily basis.
A smiling nurse in a pool communicates nothing of the sort. It quickly communicates a pool party for nurses. And if that was the event, I’d be game. Even if I weren’t a nurse.
